ABOUT ME
I’ve always been driven by a passion for connection—whether through art, music, baseball, or solving complex problems. As a child, these passions were my playground, and while I never picked up an instrument myself, I found joy in how music, like art and sports, brought people together. Over time, these interests expanded to include film and architecture, all of which share a common thread: their ability to shape experiences and touch lives in profound ways.
For a long time, I could have been described as a bit of a wayward soul—or perhaps just a late bloomer. I lived in the moment, focusing on the “here and now” without always considering what was next. This mindset led me, quite unexpectedly, into a career as a retail pharmacy technician at 20. That role transformed my life. I spent nearly two decades in retail and specialty pharmacy, with a brief period working in a hospital sleep disorders center as a Polysomnographic Technologist. These years provided me with personal and financial stability, and I found a deep sense of fulfillment helping people navigate their healthcare journeys.
However, my creative side felt stifled. I watched with admiration as my mother and brother blossomed as artists—my mother diving into new mediums post-retirement, and my brother earning a degree in Graphic Design, later teaching college courses while pursuing his MFA. Meanwhile, my wife, a brilliant and driven woman, founded her own pediatric speech therapy clinic. As a father to an incredible daughter, these accomplishments around me triggered a period of self-reflection. I began asking myself how I wanted to spend the rest of my working life and the kind of example I wanted to set for my daughter.
My corporate pharmacy role introduced me to UX processes—testing, iteration, and problem-solving initiatives that reignited my passion for creativity and problem-solving. My superiors often praised my ability to think outside the box and approach problems from both a detailed and expansive perspective. During the pandemic, with the shift to remote work, I had time to reflect on where my career was headed. After researching extensively, I found UX/UI Design, which felt like the perfect blend of creativity and problem-solving.
With the guidance of a generous UX manager at my company, I charted a path forward. Her insights helped me realize that UX/UI Design was the field where I could make a meaningful impact. I am currently pursuing a certificate from Designlab, excited about the opportunity to build a career that aligns with both my creative and problem-solving passions.
